Debbie Ford, continues to make headway as she exposes the opposing forces of both light and dark that compete for attention within every human being.

ABOUT THE MOVIE « The Shadow Effect.

“The shadow exists within all of us. It is a part of us and yet we spend most of our life running from it. But far from being scary, our dark side holds the promise of a better, more fulfilling life. Our shadow makes itself known every day. It is the reason we get furious over a friend showing up ten minutes late, yell at our parents or kids when they have done nothing wrong, and sabotage our own success at the worst possible time. Until we are able to embrace our dualistic nature, we will continue to hurt ourselves and those closest to us and fall short of our potential.

I believe that the shadow is one of the greatest gifts available to us. Carl Jung called it a “sparring partner”; it is the opponent within us that exposes our flaws and sharpens our skills. It is the teacher, the trainer, and the guide that supports us in uncovering our true magnificence. The shadow is not a problem to be solved or an enemy to be conquered but a fertile field to be cultivated. When we dig our hands into its rich soil, we will discover the potent seeds of the people we most desire to be. It is our sincere hope that you take this journey, for we know what’s waiting inside.”

There is no one in the world who doesn’t have a shadow, and when taken seriously and understood, the shadow can birth a new reality that will alter the way we feel about ourselves, the way we parent our children, the way we treat our partners, the way we interact with our community members, and the way we engage with other nations.

My thoughts…
Whenever I did something that I knew was wrong or hurtful to someone, I felt my shadow side was getting the best of me. You know the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other, having their little sparring match.

It was easy to say I was sorry, that it was my shadow and I allowed it to infringe on someone else’s parade.

Easy to blame the shadow…right ???

The best scenario would be not needing the excuse. It was The darkness,my evil twin; my shadow side controlling me.

Truth is,we all have that shadow side. Some have it worse than others and that is why there is so much evil, murder and corruption in our world.

They do not have coping skills, nor any answers. They strike without provocation at times, other times they willfully plan and take there good old-time wrecking havoc on other’s lives.

I believe it is true that individuals need to be aware of this darkness. They need to face it, acknowledge that it is a real force to be dealt with.
They should never defend it, that just makes it stronger. They need to honor it and know that it is only in darkness that light can be seen.

Even with the light they may stumble. A person walking into a dark space knows there are adjustments that their eyes make to allow them too see more clearly.

Perception and Reality, the concept of what is the reality of your perception ?

You are in charge of the story, your life.

“Everything you see or hear or experience in any way at all is specific to you. You create a universe by perceiving it, so everything in the universe you perceive is specific to you.” – Douglas Adams

My glass by the way is always half full.
