Christmas Full Moon

I love Full Moons

This year it falls on the 25 th of December.

Winter solstice is on December 22 2015.

It is an astronomical phenomenon marking the shortest day and the longest night of the year. Winter solstice occurs for the Northern Hemisphere in December and for the Southern Hemisphere in June.

It is called the Full Cold Moon

The full moon hasn’t fallen on Christmas Day since 1977.

Some of My Deco’s

A poem I wrote several years ago.

Christmas isn’t JUST about receiving gifts

It’s in the Giving of our Time and gifts from the Heart

A tin full of homemade cookies

A decorated jar of homemade bath salts to sooth someone’s weary bones

A phone call to let someone know you’re thinking of them

The Spirit of the Holidays should be everyday

No one is guaranteed tomorrow

Seven out of 10 Americans are one paycheck away from being homeless.

Be Thankful for each and every blessing

Keep your stress levels low and evenly balanced by being focused and positive

Shelter from the heat and cold

Food in our tummies

Music too sooth us

Animals (Especially Cats) to love and cherish

Love, Health and a Bit of Abundance
with Time to Enjoy

Listening to the Universe

phoenixRamDass

The universe is always offering us signs to help us, we just need to slow down and pay attention.

“A Taurus New Moon is an especially fertile time to plant a seed of a new thought, a vision, a plan or a goal. Plant a literal seed to symbolize your plans and then nurture them to help them grow strong. “

Dark Moon

This past week I somehow have been drawn to the Be Here Now, Live in the present stance. I have listened to motivation speakers where letting go of ego is of utmost importance.

Truly wanting a change and asking the Universe for it.

The message I heard spoke too me.

So I paid attention. Yesterday afternoon, a sudden urge to stop smoking cigarettes became of much importance too me.

I have not had one cigarette since.

This dissociation from a life of addiction from numerous situations including drugs, alcohol, toxic relationships and now cigarettes is in one sense overwhelming.

“I am Ready” and for Universe to bless me with such optimism and clarity is such an IN THE Face sign too me.

I have tried to stop smoking many times. Now I realize you can want to stop,  but in actuality if you are not ready it just isn’t happening.

Than today’s Daily Om comes in my email box and another sign. It is dated May 20 th 2015 and is called “Dark Night of the Soul” I have written much on this very subject.

“The dark night of the soul invites us to fully recognize the confines of our egos’ identity.”
There’s the synchronicity again.

Egos.

More on this

Dark Night

Addiction grips you in that dark night and the pain is so very real.

Many years ago, I remember sobbing uncontrollably on some one’s shoulder. The kind of sobs and wailing’s that take your breath away.

For me, cigarettes filled a void for me. It was as if I have conquered all these demons, those dark nights and I smoke. So what. My life, my decision.

Now, I am thinking about my life, my grandchildren, my daughter. I want to stick around for great-grandchildren.

I want to be healthy.

I want the freedom of being smoke free.

My animals will love me more.

Such tiny lungs to endure my indiscretions of filling my home with chemicals from cigarette smoke.

A new journey for me.

Day 2.

The signs continue. I was looking up the posts that I had quoted from and up pops this:

I was getting ready to do an article on tomorrow’s Super Full Moon in Scorpio. My fellow Scorpio pretty much covered the subject. Thanks J.

From “J”:

This full moon is happening in a new cycle for 2012. May is a “1″-new beginnings month for 2012. So we all are feeling this Phoenix rebirth. We have all been prepared for this moment. Intensity is about to be amped up and Scorpio is there to teach you that intensity is nothing to run away from and you are fully equipped to handle it.

As the SuperMoon climbs into the sky on May 5th and 6th keep in mind the three-dimensional persona of Scorpius: The Scorpion, The Eagle and the Phoenix. The Scorpion represent that raw part of emotions that causes us to react strongly and protect ourselves and loved ones in tough situations. The Eagle is the aspect of Scorpius that is a born hero. This is the part of our personality that wants to save situations and people from the “bad” things out in the world. It is the part of human beings that can lift cars off the ground to save infants, run into a burning building to save others and step in front of guns to protect loved ones and children. But one of Scorpio’s undervalued gifts is that of the Phoenix.

The mythology of the Phoenix is that of a firebird that arises completely in flames from its own ashes. But the lesson beneath the story is the re-birth or transformation. This cycle of crashing, burning and getting up to continue to fight is a story that connects everyone on earth, regardless of social or economic class. This full moon in Scorpio is an invitation to re-learn that lesson. Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and often times smart and wiser. So if things seem tuff between Wednesday and the weekend while the moon is becoming full, stop and ask yourself if you are in a situation where you can transition or transform the moment into an opportunity for growth and wisdom.

It’s 2015…April 1st.

We’re making paper mache eggs on Friday.

Changing calenders. This everlasting calender was given to me in 2000. Ortish-Easter-CareDad and I changed the dates together in January 2001. He died January 31st 2001.
I also put together my Easter Care Basket. My special paper mache egg that Buf and I created in 2002.I even blogged about making them.

My mama always said it was a FULL MOON night when I was born.

Full Moon: Being born in the middle of the cycle means that your talents lie in bringing matters to fruition. You are adept at tempering logic with instinct and practicality with creativity. Moreover, this period acts like a bridge, linking you to the past, but also projecting your ideas into the future. The negative side is that you may suffer guilt and irrational fears, especially when it comes to personal relationships. Only when you learn to take control of your own feelings, rather than taking your emotional cue from your partner, will you find a way of sustaining a mutually rewarding intimate relationship. Your best efforts will find their flowering after middle age.

Easter always falls after the first full moon of spring.
which is always the first full moon after the spring equinox – therefore the beginning of spring.

This is how later, the calculation of the Easter date had been determined: Easter takes place on the Sunday after the first full moon in spring.

Moon Madness~Worm Moon

I must have FULL MOON BLOG MADNESS 🙂

Every one is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.
Mark Twain

They used the lunar cycle to mark the seasons. The Worm Moon usually happens in late winter, when the ground thaws, and Earth worms leave trails moving across the dirt and grass. Hence the name “Worm Moon”! Hey, I love it. It means spring is just around the corner!

Fishing anyone?

Moon
Do the phases of the moon affect our thoughts and actions?

The word moon comes from the Latin origin, Luna. Many people point out that the words lunacy and lunatic go hand in hand. This includes heightened depression and possible suicidal attempts. This is why during the full moon, many incidents tend to occur. Some people report that more traffic accidents happen on full moon nights than on other nights.

The superstition about the effects of the full moon goes back centuries ago. It was believed that men and woman’s fortunes move within the moon cycles. People also believe that the moon has negative influences. There is a theory about the biological tides that tries to explain this. It states that the moon cycles cause an increase of ocean tides, (high waves for surfers), therefore also causing tides in the human body, since the body is made of about 80% water.

On a full moon, there are more active frequencies in your mind.

These could range from random or more specific thoughts. Since everyone is different, it all depends on personality. A dominant trait may surface or dominate our thoughts during a full moon. These traits could be heightened anger, jealousy, greed, depression etc. An example would be a drug addict or alcoholic would get more thoughts about needing a drink or a drug at this time.

This heightened activity can possibly awaken deep thoughts that are in the subconscious mind, therefore bringing out the spirituality of those that practice rituals.
Lots of research has been made over the years to prove these theories. Some scientists believe there is no evidence of moon madness. But there have been numerous studies about human behaviours linked with external cycles that range from solar radiation, weather, planetary cycles and moon phases. There seems to be a powerful gravitational pull on the earth when there is a full or new moon. This pull is not as strong on other days.
