No Rattle with that Quiver

Queen Minnie is purr-fection. She’s 12 years old.

She is such a curious and serious feline. Very petite.Doesn’t seem to age.

Her tail quivers like a rattlesnake without the rattle.

Cats are a mysterious kind of folk. There is more passing in their minds than we are aware of.
Sir Walter Scott

Happiness

Although a tail in motion isn’t usually a positive sign, exceptions do exist. For instance, if your fluff ball’s tail is shooting straight up into the air while it’s vibrating and shaking, she is probably feeling giddy about something. If your cat reacts this way upon seeing you, take it as a huge compliment. After all, cats never lie about their emotions — one of the greatest things about them.

“When experiencing profound love, but unable to change for the better, losing this love can repair another.

To quote Carol Burnett, ‘You have to love someone enough to let them hate you.’

Sometimes we must leave abusers to teach them love after first letting them experience

it, if love by itself is not enough. The loss of it can be profound.”

Egret March Everyday

Birds of a feather flock together

~Welsh Proverb

These lovelies greet me every morning when I open my front door. The three cats sit in front of my open door. They are curious yet mesmerized by them. They don’t try to eat them. Glad China’s taste for birdie appetizer was satisfied with Buttons (parakeet). Than I mistakenly gave the birds avocado. Evidently Bows (parakeet)ate the most of it and had a seizure, fluttered and died in my hands.

They are joined by seagulls, roosters, hens and chicks, and the occasional iguana.

They have a fondness for Cuban bread.

I was thinking of the vintage candy Chick-O-Sticks (Can only find them online)

Chick-O-Sticks

At the store I decided to go with sesame honey crunch and peanut butter crunch candies. The ones that don’t have so much sugar.

Peanut-Butter-Bars

Actually I was thinking of things Hempy Bug Hamster would like. Pumpkin seeds (Natural). Sunflower seeds unsalted.

Popped a Stella so I am over and out.

The visitors.

I love reminiscing. Especially when the stories are the same. Lots of laughs.

Of course as we well know each of us takes a snapshot in our minds of events, so when it doesn’t differ you know it was a good one.

Those were the days.

Thankful Blessings that we are here NOW to remember it.

Motivating Love Not Fear

There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life. ~ John Lennon

Tid Bits:

There are only two emotions. Love (Happiness, Peace, Contentment, Joy)

Fear (Anger, Hate, Anxiety and Guilt).

All positive emotions come from love, all negative emotions from fear.

Hummingbirds
“It is said that Hummingbird conjures love as no other medicine does, and that Hummingbird feathers open the heart. Without an open and loving heart, you can never taste the nectar and pure bliss of life.”

The Elixir of Hope

Someone gave me a wooden plaque many years ago with this writing on it.

“A friend is a person who is for you always

He wants nothing from you except that you be yourself.

He is the one being with whom you can feel safe.

With him you can utter your heart, its badness and its goodness.

Like the shade of a great tree in the noonday heat is a friend.

A friend is an impregnable citadel of refuge in the strife of existence.

It is he that keeps alive your faith in human nature,
that makes you believe that it is a good universe.

He is the antidote to despair, the elixir of hope,
the tonic for depression…….

Give to him without reluctance.”

Warrior Scars

“Could a scar be like the rings of a tree, reopened with each emotional season?”

~Magenta Periwinkle

Who knows ? Sometimes we don’t remember how we got each and every scar.

It may be an emotional scar. Perhaps someone hurt you by something they said or did.

It could be a physical scar that has remained with you.  You are taken back to that moment when it occurred.

Regardless, a scar is a reminder. You survived.

Which brings us to the wisdom in scars. We battle on and hopefully learn from our mistakes and missteps.

Remember there’s beauty in our scars. They portray the Warrior that resides in our hearts.

“When our cherished cat departs this world of strife, Please send yet another needing soul for us to love all his life.”

J. A Morrison

When Master Purrby left me back in 2003, my heart ached. His toys and empty hallways void of him.

The new year 2004 brought me Minnie. She has a white marking on her side that looks like Purrby.

The cat in the picture is the Shy guy. He is almost 17. He meows very loudly and is Minnie’s best friend.

China came when she was 12 weeks old. She is almost 4 and a beauty.

Tid Bits:

The Salty Cat

If you’re ever lost at sea, don’t drink the ocean water. The large amount of salt in the water dehydrates humans. Cats, on the other hand, can drink sea water in order to survive. Cats have crazy kidneys that filter out the salt from the water so they can re-hydrate themselves.

Smelly Cat, Smelly Paws

Cats do not have sweat glands, like humans. Instead, when they want to cool off they sweat through their paws. The sweat glands on cats’ paws secrete a scent that they use to mark their territory. So whenever they are walking or scratching they are actually marking that spot as their own.

Can’t Get Enough Beauty Sleep

Doesn’t lounging about for the whole day seem wonderful? If you own a cat, you know that it spends most of its time being lazy and basking in the sun. But did you know they spend a whopping 70% of their lives sleeping? That’s 16 hours a day! Cats need an enormous amount of energy to hunt, or pounce on the little toy mouse they have. Sleeping is their way of storing up energy.

Kitty Alzheimer’s

Senior cats start to experience something like human dementia or Alzheimer’s when they reach an old age, usually around 8. The cats wander around the house a little dazed and confused, which is why they meow constantly. If your cat is displaying these symptoms, experts say it is best to comfort it and provide an extra blanket at night.

Wide Load Whiskers

Cats’ whiskers grow to be as long as the cat is wide. Whiskers don’t just make cats adorable they also serve an important purpose. Cats use their long whiskers to make sure their body will be able to fit through tight openings. If the whiskers bend or move, the cat knows it won’t be able to fit.

Natural Sky Divers

Ever wonder why cats always seem to land on their feet? Well, they actually don’t violate the laws of physics; instead they place themselves in an umbrella position, much like a skydiver to slow down the fall. Also, due to their keen sense of direction that can easily tell which side is up then adjust their body accordingly.

Height Lovers

However, it takes some time for cats’ bodies to realize they are falling and properly adjust. Cats are more likely to survive a higher fall because they have more time to prepare their body and decelerate. The death rate for cats falling from a 2 to 6-story building is higher than falling from a 7 to 32-story building.

Unique Prints

If you take a look at your cat’s nose, you will notice it has a bunch of tiny bumps and ridges. Like a human’s fingerprint the pattern of bumps and ridges is unique to each cat. So if your cat every gets arrested its nose print will be in the kitty criminal records for ever!

Meow

Your cat probably meows a lot at you, but have you ever noticed that it rarely show the same vocalization to other cats. Kittens meow at their mothers to tell them they are hungry or cold, but once the cat gets older it doesn’t meow at other cats. Cats do “yowl” at each other, usually during breeding season or if they are annoyed. But mainly, cats just meow at humans to get us to do what they want.

Fairy’s and Gnomes

Fairy_On_Branch

On this day I saw a fairy gnome sitting so wisely on a tree branch.

I have always seen things in Nature that others do not see. Faces in clouds, shapes in shadows, sand, water.

“I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?”

Man in the Moon

“This is not only a full moon for me. This is an image of your face for me.”

Today as the full blue moon rises we know the “man in the moon” still watches over all of us

My Mom would have been 91 years young today. I miss her. Her final peace came on June 17 th 2004. Her sweet heart ceased to beat.

A poem I wrote for my father who was always “my man in the moon” His final peace came in 2001 on the 31 st of January.

Sound of Growing Corn

© Cynthia Martz

Someday I want to walk out to the edge of a cornfield
on a full moon night
I will sit myself down on the cool earth
and LISTEN

Can you really hear the corn grow?
Is it growing before my very eyes?
I will look  up into the starry heavens and LISTEN

The corn stalks weave back and forth like a field of wheat smooth and in sync
I can Hear the corn-growing
in the stillness of the night

in light of the full moon
it is a beautiful sound
I will sleep awhile and LISTEN to my dreams
